Parts of Computer

The basic parts of a desktop computer are the computer case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and Power cord. Each part plays an important role whenever you see a computer.

A computer case

The computer case is the metal and plastic box that contains the main components of the computer. It houses the motherboard, central processing unit (CPU) the power supply, and more.

Computer cases come in different shapes and sizes. Most of the computer you can purchase today include tower case, rather than a desktop cases; however, some computer are being made with all of the internal components built into the monitor, which completely eliminate the tower.

The Monitor works with a Video card, located inside the computer case text on screen. Newer monitots usually have LCD (liquid crystal display ) or LED (light emitting diode) display. Older monitor use CRT( cathode ray tube) display.

Keyboard

The keyboard is one of the primary ways we communicate with the computer and enter data.

There are many different types of keyboard such as wired, wireless, ergonomic, multimedia, and more.

Mouse

 The mouse is a peripheral that is known as a pointing device. It lets you point to object on the screen, click on them, and move them.

There are two types of mouse optical and mechanical. The optical mouse uses an electronic eye to detect movement and is easier to clean. The mechanical mouse uses a rolling ball to detect movement.

Back of Computer case 

 On the back of the computer case are connection ports that are made to fit specific device. The arrangement of these vary from computer to computer, and many companies have their own special connectors for the specific device. Some of the ports may be color coded which help to identify the uses such as:

1. Power Socket: This is where you'll connect the power Cord to the computer.

2. Audio in: Almost every computer has two or more audio ports including speaker, microphone and more.

3. USB Ports: On most desktop computer, most of the USB ports are on the back of Computer case.

4. Monitor ports: This is where you'll connect your monitor cable. ex. Display Port and VJA port.

5. Parallel port: This is an older port that is less common on new computer.

6. PS/2: These ports are sometimes used for connecting the mouse and keyboard.

7. Expansion Slots: These empty slots are where expansion cards are added to computers.

  Printers: A printer is used to print              documents, photo, or anything else that      appears on your screen.

There are many    different types of printers such as inject,    laser, and photo printers.

  Scanners: A scanner allows you to copy     an image or document and save it to           your computer as a digital image. 

   Speakers: Speaker and headphones are     output device. They allow you to hear         sound and music.

   Microphones: A microphone is a type of     input device. You can connect the                 microphone to the computer and use           the computer to record sounds or to       

 communicate with another computer           user over the internet.

   Web Cameras: A Web Cameras is a type     of input device that can record video           and take a picture.
